In the last couple of years, I have started developing iOS apps, next to my main job as a Data Scientist. This is when I fell in love with the Swift language. Swift combines an easy, modern, and thoroughly though-out syntax with the speed of system languages like C or C++. I often wondered then, whether it would be possible to apply Swift in Data Science. I started this blog with exactly that purpose: to explore if we can use Swift for (Data) Science, what is already possible, and which challenges still lie ahead.
